The End

Day 17: London
Rayna woke up at 5:10 for her 5:00 am shuttle to the airport. I tooted around for 2 hours in order to not miss my 6:45 am shuttle to the airport. Somehow we each managed to get to the airport on our own. We had the chance to eat our last breakfast together at the airport, and bid each other farewell, or should I say ciao ciao. As my trip winded up, Rayna flew to Frankfurt.
Ahh, how it all began...I was sitting on the bench in Palmer's lodge about to keel over from exhaustion when I felt someone tap my foot. It's sappy I know, but the trip had to come full circle. :o)

Last day in Europe-London: Knightsbridge, Harrods, South Kensington, SOHO, the Natural History Museum and the Victoria and Albert Museum.

The End
The concept of time was almost completely lost during the trip. The days were long, time passed quickly, yet time passed slowly. Every night we'd reflect on our favorite parts of the day, and we were always amazed that just that morning we were looking at Galileo's writings, or the day before we were zooming down a swiss mountain, or that we'd be reenacting "Et tu Brute" the next. We booked trains and hostels as we went, took an obscene amount of pictures, spent way too long deciding on what to eat, managed to never eat the same thing twice, met other cool and not so cool traveling kids, got away with a little too much crime, managed to lose just one ear plug and one toothbrush, and had the time of our lives.

I don't think I'll ever tire of saying "prego prego," or singing "belllllaaaaaaaaa" to people around me. I'll even miss Rayna constantly staring at my arm pits, "nice girl nice girl - i give you good price," the strangeness that was Napoleon and crew, and even my "ohhhhmigosh"es being mocked by Italian bus drivers.

In a perfect world, this is one of those experiences that everyone should have. I'm so lucky to have had such an awesome experience with such an unbelievably wonderful friend. I'm seeing a Eastern Europe trip (Germany, Prague, Budapest, Vienna, Salzburg, Warsaw) and a Spain/Portugal/Morocco trip in the future. Hey now, traveling's addicting.

"Onward...ho."

Christine, I'm so incredibly impressed with your trip. Even though you did not plan this out completely from the beginning, you still ended up with the trip of a lifetime. I'm happy you got to experience this, and actually kind of proud of you. It takes guts to pull that off.
