Things have been pretty hectic here - work wrapped up last Friday, we finally closed the sale of the condo on S. Prairie street, and then we went ahead and completed the purchase of another one on 850 DeWitt. Meanwhile, there are friends to say good-bye to, walls to be painted, furniture to be bought, and a huge move to maneuver. I've postponed my flight home 4 times now, but it seems like I'll finally be making my way back to California on Tuesday evening.
It's been a long weekend. It feels like it was ages ago, but we were helping Martin move into his new apartment just yesterday. Then we were all up this morning by 7:30, ready for our long-awaited Home Depot/IKEA run. It took me so long to choose colors for the apartment, but now that it's decided, painting is going to be exciting - "palm breeze" for the bedroom, "smoked oyster" for the living room, "winter lake" for the bathroom, and "wildflower honey" for the kitchen. Getting furniture was another exciting adventure - bed, dresser, bookshelf/room divider, tv stand, night stand, shelves, armchair, frames, coffee table, side table, lamps, throw pillows ugh. 635 lbs and >1K worth, to be exact. By the end of this long food-less day we were all about to keel over, so we scarfed down some delicious 50 cent IKEA hotdogs and dollar cinnabons. It took us almost an hour to get back because of traffic. We dropped Michelle off first, raced over to LPT to run Martin's stuff upstairs, drove me back up to Pearson, and Martin parked the car back at River East at 5:28, two minutes before our i-go reservation was going to expire. Then, I hauled ass to target to pick up some lamps and other odds and ends so there'd be enough light for me to actually paint the walls tomorrow. Way too much excitement for one day. I can't even write in complete sentences anymore.
So many things to take care of before home - bank, condo association stuff, reserving elevator/delivery times, priming, painting, cleaning, moving the massive futon. The plan is to have everything ready so I can come back on the 17th, spend the 18th and 19th building all that furniture, start school on the 20th, and have some semblance of a home by the end of that week. Wow, I am SO TIRED. It'll be good to go home.
