Passive aggressive

We got an email from Marge today asking us if we had any special requests for our month on ophthalmology next month.

I really have just one. Please, don't assign me to Dr. Wertz again. He's kind of a crochety old man, who struggles so much with the EMR that I spent more time listening to him curse at the computer than anything else. He was a huge debbie downer, and rained on my ophtho parade telling me to go into plastics instead. He thought I was difficult to teach and told me so on my sad little surgery evaluation. I also got the distinct impression that he thought I was slow, which I suppose is okay since I thought he was really really slow too.

I literally spent the last 40 minutes trying to think of a nice way to say no to the Wertz. I thought about not saying anything, but I just can't risk it. Plus, I bet it'd be even harder to get out of it once schedules were finalized.

I finally settled on, "I had a good experience with Dr. Wertz during my 3rd year surgery clerkship, but I think it'd be nice to work with a different doctor and get to see a different style of practice too (if possible!).
