This is probably one of the few times it's good to be on SDN because it's nice to know I'm not the only one totally freaking out and clueless about how this whole thing works. After some stalking and asking around, I think we're supposed to get an email at 6pm PST (in 56 minutes) from SF match that tells us if we match or not.
And that's it. And then, sometime tomorrow between 8am and 3pm, the program director from the program you match at will call you, so that you can be totally caught off guard and cry out of happiness/despair in front of your PD.
Glorious.
I guess I feel like I need to write something down to capture the moment. This is going to be the last few hours of uncertainty, at least for the next four years. I feel so sick and nauseous, and that's either due to my diet of cheddar kettle chips, peanut M&Ms and sour gummy worms over the last few days, or because really, where you go for residency matters. It really matters. There's so much more to residency than coming out a competent practitioner. Is it going to open doors for you? Will you be able to be anything you want to be afterwards? Are you going to be happy, make friends, start a family there?
Where you go for residency alters the course of your career and essentially, your entire life. I'm not even being dramatic. Soo, I guess we'll find out in less than 19 hours, possibly earlier. Last chance for praying and hoping, so here's to trusting the match and matching at the place that will be best for me......
Thanks for all the well wishes, the praying and the hoping. I'm sure I've been a dreadfully unpleasant worrywart at many points during this process, so thanks for putting up with me!
