Some very memorable vocabulary from Grey's anatomy tonight, so I'm going to find a way to incorporate it into this entry somehow.
Med school is my penis fish right now. It's latched on and it's going to suck the life out of me for the next few weeks. The last two weeks have been really busy with leadership transitions as the M2s disappear into their boards studying worlds. We're less than 2 months away from the dreaded USMLE board exams, and the M2s are literally going insane. One girl's away message read, "I hate the person I've become. I never used to worry about the number of books I had. I never used to worry about how many hours I studied. I never felt guilty about eating 3 meals. I didn't feel guilty about sleeping. I hate who I've become." Isn't that the saddest message ever?
Well elections and applications are all over and I'm going to be Chinatown Clinic President and Coordinator, APAMSA treasurer and Phi Rho Sigma's Vice President. Two of those are asian interest and maybe that's more commitment than I'd like. Correct me if I'm wrong though, if we ourselves don't work to advance APA health, who will? All in all, I think it'll be busy but manageable. It's just hard right now to be attending meetings all the time and to have to learn everything we need to know to lead these organizations next year. All I really want to do is study, but this weekend I have to go to the Diabetes Expo to beg for free glucose testing machines, lancets and test strips, volunteer at clinic on Sunday, make posters for the OMCA minority group dessert social, sell extra medical supplies on ebay to raise money for Chinatown clinic, work on our CCF documentary project, write two journal entries and somehow study for our neuroscience exam in two weeks.
This week has had far too many 8 am to 8 pm days, and to think, this is as easy as it gets. Don't get me wrong, I love everything I'm doing. I don't even mind spending hours each day sending and replying to emails. I'd just love it more if I was better prepared for the neuroscience beast looming overhead. Having photographic memory would be nice too.
I'm stealing this quote from Cat:
"The reason why worry kills more people than work is that more people worry than work."
-Robert Frost
Oh how true it is. I have a neuro practical tomorrow afternoon and right now, the plan is to squeeze in studying tomorrow. Hope I'm not making a huge mistake.
